According to that report "Deeney is understood to be unhappy at the club with his chance of playing at a higher standard denied" - which may not do much for his motivation........ :(

Ye just saw tht bit as well.

Doesnt sound great news.

Walsall should set a price and say "either put up with the money or shut up" and then its sorted in stead we get a constant 'reject then wait' process which will effect player, team, manager and overall, performance!

On the other side, I dont want to lose deeney but fryatt went for £300,000. Is deeney better than fryatt? Dont think so.

It is a decent sign.

Bear in mind that there are no quotes from anybody regarding Deeney's happiness. Just worry when it comes from the hoss' mouth.

i dont want him to leave because if we sell him for 450k, how much of that will go towards a new striker, probably none and then we lose out

They have always been holding out for a good deal, in fact the reason he didnt join charlton in april was because of bonsers demands. What is disappointing though is that it appears the club and e&s are pushing '100k' as the figure...why?

Trouble with a club that keeps coming and coming with bids it unsettles the player to the point were he is no good to us.
They will in the end probably get Denney nearer the price they want to pay than nearer the price we want for him.
Ps anyone else noticed that clubs who were in financial trouble always seem to sign our players.
Leicester/Fryatt
Coventry/Fox,Dann
Cardiff/Gerrard
Watford/Deeney (almost)

Yes and its getting tiresome. If anything I would have thought our prudent owner wouldn't be too keen on selling players to clubs with poor financial records, but there you go.

So if troy is unhappy at what point does he hand in his transfer request. As it stands he wants to stay at the club( ie he has yet to do so )

I'd assume when he does the dynamic will change and his value will drop in Watford's eyes. Walsall never hold on to there players who put in a request as we want players who want to play for us.

If watford were to have a bid accepted do you think the clubs that were interested in the past may come back again.

I dont give a tuppenny toss if he isnt happy with not being sold, either Watford meet our valuation (or at least get into the "£950" zone) or the player stays. If he starts throwing his rattle out the pram and working for Watford on this then I will be very dissapointed. Especially because the club will be blamed regardless of how the player behaves.

Pity this wasn't resolved earlier, we'd have had a chance of getting Platt back before he signed for Coventry, who would be ideal alongside the other forwards we have (and wingers to cross to him).

Yeah, that's a good point.

I'd like to see us hold out for £500k, flog him and then spend £50k-100k on someone with the potential to do the same as Deeney has (i.e. get games under their belt, prove their ability and then move on for a sizeable fee). The rest can be kept to keep the club going.
To me, that'd be good business. Possibly cloud cuckoo land by our usual standards though?!

Leon Knight??!!

Has he done anything since he was a teenager on loan at Brighton?

I think all of those listed would be a waste of money.

I agree. I'd take Platt over all of those mentioned. Consistent, and a good pro, not a player who's either been a flash in the pan or has earned enough to not have any motivation to play for a Walsall shirt.

Hense the 'friend'.
I know for a fact you're lying as he doesnt have an agent. But you apparently sat with his agent.. Anyway, lets not have this discussion again.

Hes said it himself a few times, hes said it outside the ground to a few people.

Anyway,if I was Deeney and my 'friend' was telling people my business regarding transfers I wouldnt be very happy at all. This info is not released for a reason, its meant to stop inside the two clubs and people involved.

I doubt it. The E & S is so up the backside of JB that they just publish what they're given.

Deeney should not go.
If we can keep him for another season Jeff he will be worth 1m. It makes sense to keep him for a bit longer and not sell out like this club normally does---i.e. Scott Dann.
